Students enrolled in this course make up the membership and leadership of a dance company for the duration of the semester. Students plan a repertory to be performed at various venues in and around the Beloit community during that semester. They schedule outreach activities such as performances and lecture demonstrations. They have opportunities to teach, choreograph, and perform while simultaneously learning about and practicing arts management. All students registered for RDC are expected to attend the Self Employment in the Arts conference. Company “leaders” register for 1 unit taking on a larger leadership role and company “members” register for .5 unit. Ordinarily students taking the course for the first time are company “members.” Students may repeat the course if they would like to register as company “leaders.
